The Triumph of Humility

The humble, incarnate Savior has been exalted as the almighty and sovereign Lord.

Nowhere in Scripture are the humility and glory of Jesus Christ more powerfully portrayed than in Philippians 2. In this rich and searching chapter, the apostle Paul holds up Christs humility as the pattern every believer is called to imitate. Have this way of thinking in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, he writes (2:5). As believers emulate the mindset of Jesus, honoring one another as more important than themselves, such humility will cultivate spiritual unity, love, and joy within the body of Christ.

Taken from the MacArthur New Testament Commentary, this devotional walks verse by verse through Philippians 2, unpacking:

• The Formula for Spiritual Unity (Phil 2:14)
• The Model for Spiritual Unity (Phil 2:58)
• The Exaltation of Christ (Phil 2:911)
• The Believers Role in Sanctification (Phil 2:12)
• Gods Role in Sanctification (Phil 2:13)
• The Charge to Stop Complaining (Phil 2:1416)
• Model Spiritual Servants (Phil 2:1730)

Each chapter closes with study questions designed for personal reflection or group discussion, making this an ideal resource for individual devotion, small group study, or Sunday school.

Be transformed by the mind of Christ as you discover why true greatness is found not in self-promotion, but in the humble, obedient, Christ-like heart that God delights to exalt.
